Getting Yourself Ready For Before And After The Breast Reduction
There are a few things that you should take note of, before and after the breast reduction surgery if you wish to prevent any unexpected mishaps. A breast reduction is usually considered a more serious surgical procedure than a simple augmentation with an implant and will usually require an overnight stay in the hospital. However, with the restrictions now being placed on hospitals by insurance companies, patients receiving reductions are quite often discharged the same day as surgery. As with an augmentation, it is very important that you prepare your body for the surgery by getting good sleep and nutrition in the week prior to your procedure. If you are a smoker, you should be at least be prepared not to smoke for at least three weeks prior to and after your breast reduction surgery. Women taking any kind of immunosuppressive medications, have difficulty with healing, or have any current infections should delay or cancel their breast reduction surgery until these matters can be resolved. And finally, as with a breast augmentation, it is important to arrange your life prior to your surgery so that you will have time to properly recover after the breast reduction without the responsibilities of childcare, work, or meal preparation. After your breast reduction surgery, your surgeon is likely to prescribe medication to help you deal comfortably with soreness and swelling. Within the first week, you will experience a certain amount of discomfort and you should expect swelling and bruising in the area. It will take several weeks before you can stop wearing a special support bra and for normal sensation to return to your nipples and for you to return to most normal activities and exercise. In a few months’ time, your breasts will settle into their new shape. Your scars will begin to fade and if you had been suffering from chronic back and neck pain, you will finally enjoy relief! In addition to back and neck pain, many women with very large breasts are simply unable to exercise and as a result they are prone to weight gain and tiredness. After breast reduction surgery, many of these patients successfully lose weight and establish healthy exercise regimens that previously they couldn’t have imagined! Breast reduction usually makes a very dramatic difference in a woman’s life and in her self-image. It may take some time to get used to your new form, but overwhelmingly, women who have had breast reduction surgery are extremely satisfied with the results and the new doors that it opens. However, it must be stressed that the above precautions before and after the breast reduction surgery have to be taken seriously.
